The Savannah is a relatively new breed of cat created by crossing an African Serval wild cat with a domestic cat. The remarkable results are stunningly beautiful “wild looking” large cats with docile and domestic temperaments. Savannah Cats were accepted for registration in the International Cat Association in February of 2001. This breed is really in its infancy of development and is still somewhat rare. At this time, there are only about 5000 Savannah cats in the world.
Savannahs make excellent pets. They are intelligent, curious, alert and friendly. If you want a great house pet with the “look of the wild”, then you may want to get a Savannah.
Savannahs are very "dog-like", and most of them LOVE to go for a walk on a leash, (just as long as they can move at THEIR pace, and not yours.)
Savannahs are very social animals. They want to be where "the action is" at all times. They will bond to their human family and they also love and enjoy the company of other pets.
